Maya

Of four different origins.

In Sanskrit, it means “illusion”. Maya was Siddhartha Gautama’s, Buddha’s mother.

Hindu Durga, the goddess of victory of good over evil, is sometimes mentioned as Maya.

Maya is also a variant of the Greek Maia. In Greek mythology Maia was one of the Pleiades, the Nymphs, and mother of god Hermes.

Maya is also pre-Columbian peoples, Native Americans who created a great civilization in Mexico and Latin America.

Maya may also derive from the Hebrew word “mayim”, meaning water.

Variant is Maia.
